March 1999: Formation of Working Committee to nominate and constitute first Executive Council (EC). The Committee nominated Dr Sushil Kumar (Director, CIMAP, Lucknow) as President and Dr SK Bansal (Department of Biochemistry, VPCI, Delhi) as Secretary of the EC.
July1999 to May 2001: Prof V Ramalingaswamy was the first Patron
October 5, 2001: The Head office of BSI was relocated at Department of Biochemistry, V. P. Chest Institute, University of Delhi, Delhi 110007 by General Body of BSI in its first meeting held during the 1st Conference of BSI
August 2002: First Directory of the Members of the BSI was published
January 2003: First General Election of BSI was held. Dr Sushil Kumar was the Returning Officer
April 2003: First elected Executive Council resumed the charge. (Prof A.K. Prasad as President and Prof SK Bansal as Secretary (From VPCI)
March 2004: The website of the Society www.bsindia.org was launched.
