Foundation Day Function

January 9, 2000

4th Foundation Day function of the Society was organized at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The function was inaugurated by its Director, Prof. P. K. Dave. Dr. Seyed E. Hasnain, Director, DNA, Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, Hyderabad, delivered his invited lecture on “Programmed Cell Death: Molecular Biology of the Death Process”. Prof. AK. Prasad, Head Department of Respiratory Virology, V. P. Chest Institute, University of Delhi, chaired the Symposium.

January 2001

5th Foundation Day of the Society, a Symposium on “rDNA Technology in Time Transition” was organized at Centre for Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The Symposium was inaugurated by Prof. Asis Dutta, the Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr. Aparna Dixit was the Organizing Secretary. The Symposium was chaired by Prof. M.K Agarwal, Head, Department of Respiratory Allergy and Applied Immunology, V. P. Chest Institute, University of Delhi, Delhi.

January 9, 2002

The 6th Foundation Day of the BSI was celebrated at the IARI, New Delhi. Prof. P. K. Gupta, an Emeritus Scientist at Department of Agricultural Botany, University, Meerut, delivered his invited lecture on “Molecular Breeding for Crop Improvement”. Dr KC Bansal was the Organizing Secretary. The function was chaired by Dr S Sopory of International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi.

The 10th Foundation Day lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mriganka Sur, FRS and Head, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The title of his lecture was “How Brain Wiring Creates Brain Function?”. Prof. Mohan Kumar, Head, Department of Physiology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi presided.

The 13th Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Prof. SK Sarin, Head, Gastroenterology Department, GB Pant Hospital and Project Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi at Auditorium, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. The title of his lecture was “Hepatitis B; Mechanism of Persistence and Carcinogenesis “. Prof Arun Kumar Agarwal, Dean, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi inaugurated the function.

February 24, 2010

The 14th Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by Dr VK Vijayan, Director, VP Chest Institute, University of Delhi. The title of his lecture was ” Oxidative stress and anti-oxidant treatment Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome”. Prof. NK Chaturvedi, Dean, PGIMER, New Delhi presided over the function. The function was organized by Dr KL Ramesh, Head, Biochemistry Department, RML Hospital, New Delhi
