1st Conference of BSI: October 4-6, 2001: It was organized at V. P. Chest Institute, University of Delhi, India at Sir Shanker Lal Concert Hall, University of Delhi, Delhi. The theme of the Conference was "Biotechnology in the New Millennium". The Conference was inaugurated by Dr Manju Sharma, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Prof SK Bansal was the Organizing Secretary. In the General Body Meeting on October 5, 2001 of BSI held at the venue of the Conference, the BSI decided to establish its Head Office at Department of Biochemistry, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest. Institute, University of Delhi, Delhi 110007, India.
2nd Conference of BSI: October 13-15, 2004: It was organized by the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Delhi, at India International Centre, New Delhi. The theme of the Conference was "Challenges and Opportunities in Biotechnology". Conference was inaugurated by Dr. R.A Mashelkar, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. Dr RH Das, Deputy Director, IGIB, was the Organizing Secretary.
3rd Conference of BSI: December 22-24, 2005: It was organized by Centre for Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University at Heritage Village, Manesar, Gurgaon. The theme of the Conference "Concept to Commercialization". The Conference was inaugurated by Prof. N.K. Ganguli, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi. Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar was the Organizing Secretary.
4th Conference of BSI: November 26-28, 2006: It was organized under the Chairmanship of Dr. Lalji Singh, Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and Shantha Biotech Limited, Hyderabad. The theme of the Conference was "Over Expression Systems and Challenges". Dr. Satish Kumar and Dr. N. Madhusudhana Rao of CCMB and Dr. Ashok Khar of Shantha Biotech Limited. were the conveners.
5th Conference of BSI: November 17-19, 2007: It was was organized at Industrial Toxicology Research Centre (ITRC), Lucknow. The theme of the Conference was "Advances and Strategies in Biotechnology: A Global Perspective ". The Conference was inaugurated by Prof Deepak Paintal, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi. Dr Sudhir Kumar Goel, Scientist, was the Organizing Secretary.
6th Conference of BSI: February 24–25, 2012:, It was was organized at Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, D-1, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. The theme of the Conference was “Current Advances in Biotechnology and Medicine”. The Conference was inaugurated by Prof SK Sarin, Director, ILBS, New Delhi. The organizing Secretary was Dr Nirupama Trehan Pati.
7th Conference of BSI: January 23-24, 2014: It was organized at Senate Hall of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab. The theme of the Conference was “Role of Biotechnology in Medicine and Herbal Drug Development”. Prof Praveen Bansal was the Organizing Secretary.
